Did you know my first real job was working in a bank? Oh yes. I was a customer service representative. Basically, the person at the till when you needed or had any questions about your account. I disliked this job so much that I would feel sick on Sunday night before work.

BUT, I learned a lot about customer service and how to talk and interact with people.

A lot has changed since then and I could not be happier with what I do now.

I love what I do now.

It's truly amazing that I get to help support moms who have teens struggling with mental health challenges. When I think of how I got here, it's unbelievable. The darkest time in my life, lead me down the path I'm on now.

No matter how dark something gets or feels, there's always hope!💗

The most incredible thing about this work?

Sharing with moms how 5 minutes of self-care can make a difference for your mental health and wellbeing.

How? Doing something that recharges, energizes, and uplifts you, will instantly change your state of mind and energy levels. Just think of the last time you did something that you enjoyed, how did it make you feel after?

Start small and simple.

Set yourself up for success. Example: you have anxiety, a few minutes of breathing exercises can instantly help to calm your nervous system and leave you feeling calm and better equipped to handle the daily challenges and issues that come up.

Have fun.

This is a lesson I learn every time I'm around little kids or my dog! As adults we forget to have fun and take everything so seriously. I know how stressful and exhausting it's when your teen is struggling with mental health challenges. It's so easy and normal to focus and make everything in your life about helping them.

BUT the first person that you need to care for is YOU. When you feel healthy, emotionally, mentally and physically, you show up for your teen and family completely differently. It starts with prioritizing your care for just 5 minutes a day.

When was the last time you had fun?

And yes, self-care can be fun.

Connecting with a friend, laughing, taking a walk outside, enjoying a cup of tea/coffee, moving your body, trying a new activity or journaling. Not even sure what fun is for you anymore, set your timer for 5 minutes and write down the last time you had fun.

Thanks for reading, friends!
