Hey there! I'm Laurie, the founder of Staying Active Health & Wellness.

I want to share a moment with you - one that might feel familiar. A few years ago, I was sitting on my bed, feeling completely alone, overwhelmed and heartbroken. My daughter was struggling with mental health challenges, and I felt paralyzed. I desperately wanted someone to just tell me what to do, to give me the magic solution that would bring peace and stability back to our home. I wanted to reconnect with my daughter, who felt so distant from me at that time.

That's when I had my lightbulb moment (though it wasn't an easy one!) 💡 I realized I couldn't control or "fix" my daughter's journey. The only thing I could control was my own mental health and wellbeing. If I wanted to be there for her - really be there - I needed to become a mom who wasn't constantly exhausted and overwhelmed.

So I started small. Really small. Just 5 minutes of journaling each day. That one simple practice made such a difference that I added gentle movement and breathing exercises to my morning routine. These three tools - journaling, movement, and breathing - became my daily anchors for self-care, self-regulation, and self-awareness.

Now, as a parent coach, I work one-on-one with moms who are walking a similar path. If you're supporting a teen through mental health challenges, I get it. I know how lonely and overwhelming it can feel. But I also know that you can create an unshakeable bond with your teen, no matter what's going on in your lives.
