I love September. 🍁 It's my favourite month of the year. I love the beautiful vibrant colours of fall and the smells of different leaves and trees. It always symbolizes new beginnings and change coming.

Change can be both exciting and scary.

If you have a teen struggling with anxiety, depression or any other mental health challenge, September can be a hard month with ALL the new changes and uncertainty that you and your teen feel.

I don't know about you but when I feel as though there are too many changes happening at once, I feel almost paralyzed and overwhelmed to take action.

That's why I'm NOT a big fan of starting with massive action!

Yes, massive action will get you results for sure.

But for most of us, massive action is too intimidating and overwhelming to do because it requires so much of us.

I remember the time when I signed up for an intensive boot camp for 8 weeks. I desperately wanted to lose that baby weight.

What happened?

I did lose some baby weight and felt stronger BUT I also felt completely exhausted and I knew that I could not keep that pace up.

I haven't done another intensive bootcamp since!

I want YOU to set yourself up for success this September.

You already have so much on your plate with supporting and helping your teen and everything else in your busy life.

Pick one self-care activity and do it every day for 5 minutes.

Be consistent about it. Pick a time that works for you. Set a timer if that helps.

Some ideas for self-care:

  • Journaling

  • Walking

  • Sending a friend a text or note

  • Guided 5 minute meditation

  • Guided breathing exercises

  • Mindfully enjoying a cup of coffee/tea

If you want a simple journal guide with some examples of different prompts to use, I have one for you.
