Transform Your Nights: Moms Start Journaling!

Are you struggling with sleep?
I don't know any mom that hasn't struggled with sleep at some point.
If you're experiencing a stressful and challenging time with your teen, sleep is a big issue.
I'm not going to bore you with the research on how important sleep is for your mental health and wellbeing.
I'll just say that sleep is the biggest factor and most important pillar of our health, especially as we age.
You could be eating the perfect clean diet for You and exercising BUT if you're sleep is crappy and poor quality, you're not functioning at or even near your best and You know that!
Something that I've been doing for a few years that I never miss anymore is journaling. It's been so helpful for my mental health.
Journaling at night has been a game changer for my sleep quality.
Why?
When you have ALL these thoughts ruminating in your head and a never ending to-do list going on, it seems almost impossible to turn off the noise and fall asleep. One of the most common causes of poor sleep is having worries and anxieties spinning around in your head.
Thoughts such as:
how can I get my teen to talk to me?
when can I possibly fit in grocery shopping and making dinner?
why did I say that to my teen today?
I have to call the school tomorrow and talk to the teacher.
Give bedtime journaling a go.
A simple but highly effective exercise is to write down your worries, thoughts or tomorrow’s to-do list on a pad or in a journal just before bed. This will help you feel lighter, calmer and less anxious, which can be transformative in helping you drift off into deep, relaxing sleep.
If you leave a journal and pen on your bedside table, you’ll be visually prompted each night when you enter your bedroom. This will make bedtime journaling much more likely to become an effortless habit.
I have a few journals right beside my bed to remind me. This visual reminder is incredibly powerful.
Not sure what to write?
Write out your to-do list for tomorrow.
List your worries.
Something that went good today or that you're proud of yourself for.
Something that you learned today, example: talking to my teen when they get home from school is not a good time to talk.
🌟 What do you think of journaling before bed, will you give it a try?
