The Real Rewards of Exercise

When a lot of us think of the benefits of exercising we think of the physical and extrinsic reasons such as having a better body, losing weight and over all better health. Unfortunately it does not appear that these are the reasons that will keep us sticking with exercise for the long term. For older adults this is even more true. The better way to look at exercise and to stick with it is to think of the immediate benefits you get from exercising such as more energy, better mood, less stress and a way to connect socially with friends, family and community. These are the things that can truly enhance our everyday quality of life and get us to stick with an exercise routine that works for us.
